I was high-functioning—until I wasn’t. My busy professional life made it impossible for me to consider taking time off for an onsite inpatient rehab program, but I knew I needed help. Dave provided exactly what I needed: a private two week long, home based, 1 on 1 treatment: customized, and intensive support that fit into my life without disrupting it. Through our sessions, he helped me understand my substance use disorder, explaining the biological, emotional, and social changes that had slowly taken over my life. His approach was compassionate yet firm, holding me accountable every step of the way.

The tools and strategies I gained from his customized program were life-changing, and I now have a supportive community of people who truly understand me.  Working with Dave has given me the clarity and confidence I needed to take control of my life again. If you’re a busy professional who needs discreet, effective help, Dave is the one to call.

‘I have been associated with Mr. Dave Walsh in the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction for the past four years.  In that time I have been impressed with his ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds, to guide, encourage, and support them in their recovery.  He has the knowledge and experience which instills in his clients a confidence that they can recover and he follows through no matter the level of addiction or the presence of mental or emotional illness.  He is caring, responsible and dependable.

I fully trust his methods and recommend them to anyone sincerely seeking recovery and looking for an alternative to traditional in patient treatment, which can be expensive and inconsistent.  His one-on-one approach is much superior to traditional in-person treatment, evidenced by his track record and high rate of success.”

There’s a reason why addiction is so often referred to as a ‘family disease’: when one family member suffers from substance use disorder, it affects all family members. When our son relapsed from his sobriety from his alcohol addiction, we were devastated.

Fortunately, we had gotten to know Dave Walsh through his work with the residential treatment centre our son had attended. In addition to working with residents, Dave led an online support group for families, teaching us about addiction and offering us important skills.

When our son relapsed, we turned to Dave for guidance and chose to pursue treatment with him, which in our son’s case included residential treatment and one-on-one coaching. Our son trusts Dave and is now in recovery.

Dave also recognized the impact our son’s relapse was having on our family and provided us with support while maintaining our son’s confidentiality. His personal experience with addiction, deep knowledge about substance use disorders and welcome compassion for those suffering from addiction and their loved ones is a valuable combination.

“As a busy executive going through a separation I found myself battling the bottle. I could go for a few days and even the odd week of not drinking but every time I went back to drinking, it worsened. My drinking effected my home life and work. I knew I had a problem but could not seem to stop with AA or on my own.

I hired Dave, and together we set up a schedule and recovery program designed for my unique work constraints and needs. He educated me on what was really going on physiologically and psychologically. Why a smart, successful person could not just stop drinking. I am coming up to a year of sobriety and owe Dave, The Sober Mechanic, gratitude for helping me.”

“Two years ago, after 5 decades of continuous drinking, I finally became sick and tired of being sick and tired and reached out to Dave The Sober Mechanic for help. My story is as follows….I drank fairly normally (if that makes any sense at all!) for decades and alcohol was my friend, so I thought. I enjoyed wine at dinner, a quiet drink after dinner and social drinking on the weekends. But I was drinking every day without noticeable negative effect yet. It was not until my last decade (yes decade!) of drinking that I noticed my consumption had increased partly because I had made a switch to vodka martinis and took a real liking to them and mostly because as we all know, alcoholism is a progressive illness. With the advent of covid things really ramped up. As my normal routine of work and frequent travel took a pause. During covid, Martinis were reached for earlier in the day. Rather than the 7pm after work drink, I was then having 3pm post zoom calls reward drinks. That quickly shifted to what the heck 1201pm martinis sipped during the last few zoom calls followed by full on martini rewards after the last call usually around 4 or 5pm. 2 years later, I was then reaching for a 10am drink to steady my shakes and cure my headache. Vodka daily volume had reached half a bottle or more a day and I was waking up daily with a hangover feeling sick, edgy, short of patience and in constant dread and worry. I then developed physical symptoms such as high blood pressure, arrhythmia, pain in my right side and eventually a stroke. I finally realized that I had become an alcoholic. I tried to stop on my own but no matter how hard I tried I could not give up the booze and realized that I needed help. The thought of checking myself into rehab scared the heck out of me so I thought as a first step I should try one on one help. This is when I found and reached out to Dave The Sober Mechanic. I went through Dave’s 1 on 1 week long inpatient treatment program. The first few months were tough but with Dave’s constant support I am now 2 years sober, happy and healthy. I could not have achieved sobriety without Dave’s help.

Thank you Sober Mechanic!”
